从传统语法上，确实没有 no matter if/whether 的说法。 no matter 后面接 wh-word（即接

特殊疑问词）， 不接表示一般疑问句的 if 或 whether。但在美语中现在确实有人用 no matter

if/whether, 就像 The Sun 的那句。也许语言也在不断的发展吧，用得多了，也就不足为奇。

English Forums 上就有人拿下面两句发问。

Mary wanted to get to school on time, no matter if she went without breakfast.

玛丽就是不吃早饭也要准时赶到学校。

No matter whether it will rain or not, we have decided to leave at six in the morning.

不管会不会下雨，我们已经决定早上六点出发。

从语意上看，第一句的 no matter if = even if; 第二句的 no matter whether 中 no matter

是强调 whether ....... not。

这种用法目前仅在美语中出现（the American version)。

Slice the cheese thinly, no matter if it crumbles. (The Guardian)

把奶酪切得很薄，不管它会不会碎。

No matter if they have a rocky period or not. (The Guardian)

不管他们是否有一段不稳定的时期。

No matter if he was old, no matter if he was wearing a cowboy shirt, he always

outclassed them. （The New York Times）
